Biography

Dr. Peter Scoma is a psychotherapist with over a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings. He has been formally trained in and practices a variety of treatment models including cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.

 

After completing an undergraduate degree in psychology from Saint Joseph's University, Dr. Scoma has received two Master of Science degrees in Behavioral Medicine and Clinical psychology as well as a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology all from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He has worked and trained in a variety of clinical settings including residential treatment facilities for adolescents and adults with severe mental illness. Dr. Scoma has extensive experience providing individual and group therapy in two local area psychiatric hospitals in addition to several outpatient clinics. He has also conducted psychoeducational testing for individuals throughout the lifespan.

 

Dr. Scoma is also formally trained and has extensive experience in treating a host of psychological disorders with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and conducts DBT skill groups and individual therapy for teens and adults on a regular basis.

 

Dr. Scoma has two young children and often spends time outside of work  building furniture in his woodworking shop.
